GTV (formerly known as Global TV) is a national terrestrial private television station in Indonesia. Starting from a local private television station in Jakarta, Global TV broadcast later expanding to five other major cities. It was established on 1 January 1998 and first went on air on 21 May 2002 with MTV programming.

The station airs news and sports such as F1 and A1, and also broadcasts MTV programmes and Nickelodeon cartoons.

GlobalTV has 30 transmission sites covering some 200 cities and towns across the country. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Media Nusantara Citra (MNC), which also owns RCTI and MNCTV.

History

The station began airing on 1 June 2002, originally only broadcasting MTV Indonesia programs such as MTV Most Wanted, MTV Land, and MTV Ampuh. After four years as an MTV broadcaster, on 15 January 2005, Global TV began producing its own television programmes for 12 hours. Its slogan was "Millions of Home Entertainment."

On late 1 January 2005, it was expanded to 18 cities in Indonesia, while Bhakti Investama acquired Viacom Indonesia from Bakrie & Brothers.
